Piano Teacher in Sussex

Are you looking for private piano tuition?

I’m an experienced piano teacher working with private clients in and around East and West Sussex, in your own home.

My high-standard teaching qualifications include an Honours Degree in Piano Performance and a Master’s Degree in Composition.

Who I Work With

  • Young Beginners, Aged five to 11 years old: I’ll use a tailored and engaging teaching style to suit their needs. I’ll go at your child’s own pace, with creativity, games and lots of fun to get your little one off to a great start.

  • My 100% pass-rate teaching will take your son or daughter through all their Grade exams, including musical theory.

  • Older Children and Young People: I’ll empower youngsters to play and enjoy their favourite music; pop, classical, jazz – whatever they love.

  • Advanced Learners (Grade 8+): Get in touch if you would like to develop your technique, musicality and resilience.

  • Adult Beginners, Learners and Returners: A warm welcome back to the wonderful world of music awaits.

Learning the Piano – For Children and Older Youngsters

Are you keen for your child to learn the piano?

It could be one of the best decisions you make.

Why?

Well, did you know that, as well as an enduring love of all forms of music, you could be empowering them to develop a wide range of life skills, including analytical thinking, focus, creativity and even resilience? Not least, strong early performance and presentation skills to take forward to further education and the workplace.

Young children, in particular, absorb information like sponges. Music offers an exciting new “language” to broaden their knowledge and horizons.

Teaching Your Child Piano

Although I teach music properly (including how to read music), I will also use gentle, empathetic, child-friendly methodologies, making lessons enjoyable and interactive.

Your child needs to feel comfortable and safe with a patient, supportive teacher who recognises their learning pace.

And, one who can provide positive reinforcement. I’m delighted that many young pupils stay with me for years, acquiring the enduring confidence and skills they deserve, to take into adulthood.

Learning the Piano as an Adult

Learning as a beginner, or returning to the piano as an adult could bring you so much pleasure and satisfaction. It’s never too late to learn.

  • Perhaps this is something you’ve always wanted to do but, for some reason, it never happened.

  • Maybe you learned to play when you were younger; somehow you never picked it up again.

  • You could be trying to teach yourself, yet with little progress on your own.

It’s thought that, as we get (slightly) older, helps keen the brain healthy and active – so it’s well worth thinking about.
