What is your experience?2026-02-26T13:07:06+00:00

I teach piano to children and adults from young (five years) to, shall we say, a more mature age. And, from all backgrounds and walks of life.

With a 100% pass rate in Grade 1 to Grade 7 and theory (Grade 5), I’ve helped a great many people to master and enjoy an instrument often considered difficult to master.

Through empathy and commitment, I’m privileged to have worked with both professional and amateur musicians to conquer their crippling performance anxiety. Equally, people from all over the world working in UK companies in need of support to finetune their English speaking skills and/or to prepare for exams.

I’ve also taught English to foreign students in Bangkok, Jeju Island in South Korea and Henan Province in China. Also, in the UK and online.

What exams can you help me prepare for?2026-02-26T13:20:06+00:00

Grade exams for the piano, from beginner to more advanced, including the often-tricky Grade 5 theory exam.

For UK-based employees, I can help you prepare for the IELTS qualification  (International English Language Testing System, a recognised test of English language proficiency used by immigration authorities and employers worldwide. In addition, the Cambridge exams, where I teach FCE, CAE and CPE (C2 Proficiency).

Most of my clients do work towards exams, but not always.

Where do you teach?2026-02-26T13:21:49+00:00

Primarily in West Sussex on a one-to-one basis, with the possibility of coming to parts of East Sussex, including Brighton and Hove.

And, on Zoom for clients and students further afield. I may be able to travel further, but you will need to consider the associated travel costs.

How much do you charge?2026-02-26T13:23:08+00:00

Sorry not to be too precise here:

My flexible rates reflect the highly customised nature of what I do. Refer to my separate services pages for more information.

How long do I need to commit for?2026-02-26T13:24:43+00:00

That will depend on your programme, your current circumstances and what your goals are. In general, you can’t achieve miracles in a single session, not least for a performance anxiety issue. Therefore, in most cases (but not all, of course), you’ll need to prepare to commit for a number of sessions over a defined period of time.

It’s best to get in touch to find out more.

What’s your availability?2026-02-26T13:25:56+00:00

I work during the day and potentially Saturday mornings if this works for both of us.

Most lessons will be after work, and I can work up to 8-9pm a couple of evenings a week.
