Performance Anxiety Coaching for Musicians
Based in Sussex, I’m a musical performance anxiety coach, working with musicians both amateur and professional, and those taking musical or college entrance exams. We can meet face-to-face or if you’re further away, I can work with you online throughout the UK.
With direct personal (and painful) experience and a wealth of knowledge, it will be my privilege to help you overcome the excruciating, life-limiting anxiety stalking your heart and soul when it comes to playing your instrument in public.
In other words, stage fright.
You’re a gifted musician, or would-be maestro, but have you mastered how to perform in front of others, rather than just the techniques – essential though they are? Maybe you haven’t had the support you need. I’ll help you to find your inner strength and step outside of your comfort zone.
Work hard with me, practice the new skills you learn and you could change your life.
What Is Musical Performance Anxiety?
Musical Performance Anxiety is real.
Many artists and musicians suffer from it – including famous ones, such as Adele and Andrea Bocelli.
In brief, it’s a debilitating fear – terror, even – of a live performance. In this case, your live musical performance, whatever that may be. It can cause physical symptoms such as a racing heart, sweating and trembling. It’s very distressing. This fear prevents you from following your dream. That’s not fair.
Also, it spirals into a vicious circle: negative self-talk, panic attacks, I can’t, I can’t…
In my case, I stopped playing the piano, one of the greatest joys of my life, for 20 years. (I’m playing again now.)
Don’t be me.
Don’t let your anxiety impact your well-being or even block your musical career. From your Grade One exam, to your next concert in front of a packed audience, my expertise, empathy and guidance could be exactly what you need.
